Every time you see a “iPASS card” or “Multi-cards” sign on a ticket machine, you can use the iPASS card to tap the sensor screen of the ticket machine to pay for tickets of public transportation.
iPASS covers all payments of ticketing for public transportation in Taiwan, and thus helps to save you the trouble of buying tickets, and provides you with fare discounts*。

Automated fare collection gate
To enter a train station for a ride, all you need to do is sweep the iPASS card over the sensor area of the gate for passing through.
When exiting the station, you need to sweep the card over the sensor area of the toll gate for passing through as well. If the card balance is insufficient to pay the ticket fare while passing through the gate, iPASS will prepay the fare for you up to 65 NTD, and the disbursement will be recovered at the next auto top-up. If 65 NTD is still not enough to pay for the ticket, please make payment at the fare adjustment office in the station.
Automated fare collection gates are usually used in MRT stations, Taiwan Railways stations and THSR stations.
Ticket checker
Please sweep the iPASS card over the sensor area of ticket checker for passing through.
依Please find out if you need to swipe the card upon boarding and alighting. The fare collection method may vary among transportation providers. If your card balance is insufficient when alighting, iPASS will prepay the ticket fare for you up to 65 NTD, and the disbursement will be recovered at the next auto top-up. If 65 NTD is still not enough to pay for the ticket, please make the required payment using cash according to the instruction of chief driver.
Ticket checkers are often used on buses, shuttle buses and ferries.
Bike
To rent a YouBike, you just need to sweep the card over the sensor area of the parking pole, and sweep it again and wait until it shows the returning is completed when you return the bike.
If you haven’t registered for YouBike or need other services, you may make use of the YouBike KIOSKs.
Please note that when using an unregistered iPASS card to register for YouBike, your personal information will not be transferred to iPASS Corp., nor will you register your iPASS card.
Parking Lots
You can enter a parking lot by sweeping the iPASS card over the sensor area of a parking payment machine at the entrance of the parking lot, and sweep it again while exiting from the car park.
For parking lots that use parking tokens or a license plate recognition system, you may still make use of the sensor installed on a parking payment machine. Please choose the payment method according to the payment options available in the parking lot you entered.
Some parking lots do not have card readers that support auto top-up service. Please make sure you have sufficient balance in the card before exiting the parking lot.
